"RIVERVIEW HIGH SCHOOL RECEIVES BIG RECOGNITION"

Riverview High School makes the “BusinessWeek” National Magazine list. One Arkansas public high school was named on January 15, 2009 by BusinessWeek magazine based on the “Parents Choice” list survey. The honor goes to Riverview High School who made the list in the “Parents Choice” category.

BusinessWeek made the announcement of its first-ever Best High Schools in America rankings. The magazine worked with San-Francisco-based non-profit GreatSchools to make the selections. BusinessWeek and GreatSchools is an organization that rates schools and provides an online community for parents in identifying the best overall public high school in each state in a number of different categories. BusinessWeek and GreatSchools determined Riverview High School in Arkansas to be the parents’ top choice for the best public school.

The GreatSchools website allows parents, teachers, administrators, staff, and secondary school students to give their reviews and complete a survey about their opinions and personal school experience in detail. For Riverview High School, here are some of the reviews. One parent’s review stated, “The teachers try to do their best to educate their children”. Another parent wrote, “The principal is doing an amazing job, he is very professional, straight forward, and cares a lot about the students. The teachers care about my child’s grades and future. The school has great sports and academics”. One student’s review included, “Most of the teachers are exceptional. The schools facilities are great”. A former student wrote, “ I think the school has a great learning environment”. Another former student wrote, “I am pleased with the staff and the responsibility of the teachers and help while at Riverview. With the help of Riverview, I am now attending UAMS”. A teacher wrote, “The quality of teaching is above average at Riverview High School. There is a positive learning environment for students and the principal and counselors are dedicated to the success of all students”. A student wrote, “Riverview has good academics and very good extracurricular activities”. A parent wrote, “Riverview is an outstanding learning environment for my children. I’ve never seen a staff that works so hard just to make these kids enjoy learning and coming to school. This school is one of the best in the state. I have no doubt that Riverview could beat any school in the state”. From a parent, “I think this is one of the best schools in Arkansas. The teachers are wonderful and work wonders with the children. I would truly recommend this school”. From a former student, “I really loved it. The teachers take the time to work with you. The teachers are great.”

The “Parent’s Choice Schools” are based on ratings given to the schools by visitors to the GreatSchools Website. The surveys are then read by the GreatSchools Parent Review editors and posted on the website. The information is useful in helping families to start thinking about where their children will be going to school in the next year. Decisions made by parents on whether to stay where they are, or move, is very important in finding the right school for their children. The survey provides information to parents in making the best-informed decision when considering their options for school.

Riverview Public High School in Arkansas received four stars our of a five-star rating in every category based on Principal Leadership, Teacher Quality, Extracurricular Activities, Parental Involvement, Safety, and Discipline.
